Scale model of a development site in Dublin. Made while as part of a team while working at Kandor Models.
I made all the terraces, gardens, shop fronts and interiors for this building. Matching paint elements made by others for different parts of the same model.
Scale model of redevelopment of Weaver’s Cross Station and surrounding area in Belfast. Made as part of a team while working at Kandor Models.
I built the bridge over the train tracks and the curved sloped roads either side of that. I made lots of the details in the main station including signage, tables, seating, ticket machines etc. I also made some of the clear acrylic buildings surrounding the main station.
Tetris block head for a music video for the song, Distance for the artist Somebody’s Child.
There were a few different designs for the shape of the head that were discussed before the cube shape was settled on since it was the most practical shape for the actor to work in for this shoot. I built a bicycle helmet into the headpiece so that it was very easy to take on and off and to wear. The tetris block is made from lightweight black foam and orange pvc squares on top. There was a small black fabric window at the front for the actor to see out but was not very visible on camera.
Aladdin’s Lamp sculpted from polystyrene for Cork Opera House. Sculpted while working in Shadow Creations.
I was given a photograph of a lamp to match. I cut the basic lamp shape out of polystyrene using a hotwire machine and then finished the sculpt by hand. The lamp was then painted and covered in glitter and positioned above the door of Cork Opera House.
Miniature version of Ardgillan Castle in Skerries, North Dublin made to look like gingerbread.
I built this for a Christmas event hosted in the castle. I took lots of photos of the castle and created some plans and elevations in Autocad. Once the castle was broken up into basic sections and shapes I cut each piece out of foam board covered in brown paper and constructed the castle. I iced on the windows and details like icing a cake and stuck on loads of sweets.
Giant polystyrene mushrooms made while working at Shadow Creations.
I cut all the stems and caps of the polystyrene mushrooms on a hotwire machine and added some detail by hand. I then painted all of them and then made vinyl stickers to put on the caps. Finally I lacquered all of them as they were going to an outdoor location.
